From First Hire to High Performance

Growing Your Team Intentionally
The first hires set your culture and capacity. Instead of rushing to fill seats, write outcome-based roles: what must be true 90 days from now for this hire to be a success? Favor versatile builders who can flex across functions while you validate where specialization will pay off.
Onboarding is your scaling lever. Pair every role with a playbook: access, tools, shadowing, KPIs, and a first small win in week one. Cross-train where possible so vacations and spikes don’t cripple delivery, and maintain a single source of truth for how you operate.
As the team grows, managers need time to manage. Block weekly 1:1s, publish decision logs, and use simple operating rhythms (standups, demos, retros) to keep alignment tight. Celebrate process wins— fewer escalations, faster handoffs—as loudly as revenue milestones to signal what matters.
